"The national team of Japan arrived this Tuesday in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, becoming one of the first international delegations to settle in Mexico ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The footage shows the so-called "Blue Samurai" arriving at the Grand Fiesta Americana Monterrey Valle hotel in San Pedro Garza García, where they will stay over the coming days while undergoing their adaptation phase to Mexico's climate and competition conditions. Prior to arriving at the hotel, the players were welcomed at the airport by Governor Samuel García, who presented them with traditional northern Mexican hats. Fans of the Japanese team residing in Monterrey expressed their excitement at the team's arrival in the city. "I have been waiting for this since they chose this city to host the World Cup (...) I am very happy to be here," said a Japanese fan present at the location. The Asian team will use the Tigres Training Center as their base of operations, where they will train from June 3 to 7 before debuting on June 14 against the Netherlands in Dallas, Texas. They will later play one of their group stage matches in Monterrey, where they will face Tunisia on June 20, a match that has generated great anticipation among the Japanese community residing in Nuevo Leon. "I wonder if they will win. I send them all my passion. I hope the Japanese team also enjoys Monterrey," added the fan. The arrival of Japan in Monterrey, along with South Africa's arrival in Pachuca, marks the beginning of the arrival of national teams to Mexican territory, nine days before the inauguration of the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 11 in Mexico City."
