India's $38 billion antitrust case inches forward as Apple finally agrees to cooperate

Apple has given up trying to withhold its financial details from India's antitrust body, although it did negotiate one last delay, and may have managed to greatly cut the up to $38 billion fine it was starting down. Tim Cook in a previous visit to India — image credit: Apple It should have been a reasonably simple case of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) fining Apple over antitrust practices, and Apple appealing against that 2024 ruling. But it has become a more complex and protracted issue as Apple has resisted surrendering the financial details the CCI needs to determine its fine. According to Reuters , Apple has now agreed to supply the information. However, it has asked for what it reportedly called a "final extension" until June 25, 2026.
