Show best image of DRC to the world! - National team prepares for World Cup under Ebola restrictions in Belgium

"National football team of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held training session in Liege on Tuesday, ahead of a friendly match against Denmark. The Leopards continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup while remaining under health-related restrictions linked to the Ebola outbreak in eastern DR Congo. During the press conference head coach Sebastien Desabre said the squad remains fully focused despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the training camp. "For now, everything is working correctly. The players are working well, are very focused on their tasks," he said, noting that the team still has more than two weeks of preparation remaining before its opening World Cup fixture against Portugal. The coach stressed that FIFA medical protocols are being fully respected and insisted the Ebola-related measures have not disrupted the team's daily routine. "We are having a completely normal training camp," he said. "In our daily lives and as always, let's say even since COVID, we have internal health rules that are respected before meals, during meals, temperature checks. We have kept all of this since COVID, so it doesn't change." Looking ahead to the tournament, Desabre acknowledged the challenge facing the Congolese side, which has been drawn against higher-ranked opponents. "The first step for us is to go out of the group stage," he said. "My players are all heroes, and we want to show the best image of Congo to the world." DRC team is scheduled to face Denmark in a friendly as part of their final preparations before travelling to the United States for the World Cup. The Leopards have been drawn into Group F alongside Portugal, South Korea and Canada. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from 11 June to 19 July across the United States, Canada and Mexico. It will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, expanding from the previous 32-team format and increasing the number of matches from 64 to 104."
