"US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was repeatedly grilled about the prospects for a deal with Iran, during his House Foreign Affairs Committee appearance in DC on Wednesday. "Can you describe the key differences between the terms of the deal that you all are negotiating with Iran today versus the terms of the JCPOA?" he was asked. Critics have suggested the Trump administration could get a worse deal that than earlier Iran agreement, which Donald Trump withdrew from in his first term. "What we're discussing now is what the negotiations will be about. And it will be about no enrichment, what they're going to do with their enrichment, and what they're going to do with the highly enriched uranium being removed and being disposed of. That wasn't a part of JCPOA," Rubio said. "But ultimately, any deal we do will be a good deal or it won't be a deal. And it will be better than JCPOA," he added. In recent days, there have been reports of the sides closing in on a deal, with a potential 60-day ceasefire extension, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of the US blockade of Iran's ports all said to be on the table - followed by talks on Iran's nuclear programme and sanctions relief. Neither side has confirmed it. "
