"Thousands of Argentinians gathered this Wednesday in the Plaza del Congreso and the surrounding streets of Buenos Aires to demand justice for the country's femicides, during the commemoration of the 11th anniversary of the 'Ni Una Menos' movement. Drone images show the extensive concentration of demonstrators throughout the plaza in the Argentine capital. From the air, columns of feminist organizations, unions, and student groups could be seen carrying flags, banners, and photographs of femicide victims. The mobilization coincided with the anniversary of the first Ni Una Menos march, held on June 3, 2015, following the femicide of Chiara Paez, a 14-year-old teenager murdered in the town of Rufino, Santa Fe province. At the event, some demonstrators played percussion instruments and, through banners, demanded that the Argentine government implement public policies for the prevention and protection of women and girls against gender violence. The mobilization was accompanied by a strong police presence around the Plaza del Congreso. Nonetheless, the day unfolded peacefully amid chants and awareness activities. According to data released by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation at the end of May, Argentina recorded 200 femicide victims in 2025, representing a 12.3 percent decrease compared to the previous year. However, human rights organizations and feminist collectives argue that the issue continues to be one of the main challenges for President Javier Milei, who warned of eliminating the criminal figure of femicide during his speech in Davos in 2025."
