MANILA, Philippines — A total of 8.91 kilograms of kush were intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, found in the possession of a passenger who arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, June 4. The Bureau of Customs (BoC-NAIA) discovered the illegal drugs concealed in the suspect's checked luggage upon inspection. Authorities said the substance was uncovered during routine X-ray scanning and later confirmed following a K9 alert by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. According to the BoC, the seized items have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for further examination and investigation. In another development, the PNP Aviation Security Group seized an abandoned inbound parcel containing suspected illegal drugs during a drug interdiction operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on June 3, 2026. The operation was conducted by intelligence personnel of the Avsegroup in coordination with the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group. The parcel, originating from Spain and intended for a recipient in Manila, was subjected to routine cargo screening procedures. Authorities discovered approximately 201 pieces colored tablets suspected to be Ecstacy, with an estimated standard drug price of P341,700. The Avsegroup said the tablets were concealed among colored Lego bricks inside a tape-sealed plastic bag.
