KARACHI: Federal B Area Trade and Industry Association (FABATI) has urged the government to announce a special package in the budget 2026-27 to improve industrial activities and increase exports. In it’s budget proposal sent to the finance ministry the association noted that global tensions and rising inflation are continuously increasing the challenges for industry and exports. The association proposed that the sales tax refund, EFS and advance tax issues will have to be resolved in the budget. Reforms based on modern technology, energy efficiency and sustainable development will have to be made in the industry. Easy and stable final tax regime will have to be restored for exporters, President FBAATI Sheikh Tahseen suggested. Ease will have to be created for SMEs and export units, President Sheikh Tahseen Proposed amendments in sales tax laws, income tax laws are urgently needed, Sheikh Tahseen. GST rate will have to be reduced from 18 percent to 15 percent, Sheikh Tahseen proposed. Pack-hour charges and fixed charges for industries should be reduced, Sheikh Tahseen defended. Super tax, Adjustable tax should be abolished for the value-added sector. A uniform contribution of 0.3 percent of the total turnover should be fixed for EOBI and ESSI.
