Senate President Pro Tempore Win Gatchalian late on Friday confirmed that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at the Senate of transferring contractor Curlee Discaya to the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP). “Yes, we are coordinating with the DILG and we are working on the necessary papers to transfer him to PNP. The target date is Monday,” Gatchalian told reporters. At present, Discaya is under the custody of the Senate, after he was cited in contempt. Gatchalian’s statement came after the Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 20 issued warrants of arrest against Discaya, his wife Sarah, and former Public Works officials Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, and seven others over the rehabilitation of a river construction structure along Bulusan, Calumpit, Bulacan. Discaya was detained in the Senate since September of last year, while his wife is currently detained in Cebu.
