"The official trophy of the FIFA World Cup 2026 arrived this Friday in Mexico City as part of a promotional tour that visited 75 cities around the world, providing an opportunity for fans to see it up close and feel the World Cup fever. Recorded images show the so-called FIFA Experience that was set up in Utopia Mixhuca. The presentation of the trophy was led by the head of the Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, and historical football figures, such as the Brazilian Roberto Carlos and the Mexican Hugo Sanchez. "It's amazing, it's the third time I've come to take pictures with the FIFA cup (...) my mom took us to see the Jules Rimet Cup. So I'm with my sister along with the trophy. So I'm with the Jules Rimet and with the FIFA Cup now," said Laura Herrera Monforte, a housewife. Other fans highlighted the organization of the event and the historical value of the pieces exhibited, among which were jerseys of national teams from different countries and historical players like Lionel Messi, as well as portraits of footballers like Hugo Sanchez and Diego Armando Maradona. "As for the rooms, the history of football was very interesting. We had the balls there, how they were year by year and World Cup by World Cup, I think it was quite interesting. And also the jerseys were quite good, they had one of Maradona that I remember was quite interesting," expressed the sales employee Michel Munayer. He also stated that the presence of the trophy creates a special impression among fans due to its relevance in the history of the sport. "Yes, the solid gold is imposing. Knowing that Maradona kissed it in '86, all of this, I think it's quite good," he mentioned while waiting for his turn to be photographed with the cup that will be exhibited until June 8. Less than a week before the start of the World Cup, some attendees acknowledged that the country faces organizational challenges, although they were confident they could be resolved before the tournament. "The vibe that we Mexicans are going to bring, that we are going to go all out, that we forget our problems a little and that we unite. I think that will make it very special," said Munayer. Standing almost 37 centimeters tall and weighing more than six kilograms, the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy is made of 18-carat gold and features two human figures holding the planet Earth. The trophy will be lifted by the team that wins the world title."
