'It's like a dream!' - South Korea's Red Devils get hero's welcome in Guadalajara ahead of World Cup campaign

"Crowds gathered on Friday to welcome the South Korean national football team upon its arrival in Guadalajara - the city that will host the 'Red Devils' group-stage base during the FIFA World Cup. Footage shows players disembarking from the team bus as South Korean fans and local supporters cheered, waved flags, held banners and captured the moment on their phones. "It seems like a dream, really, because I never imagined that the World Cup would come to Guadalajara and that the team, particularly, would come to Guadalajara to play all their matches," said Bibi Cho, a South Korean fan. Outside the hotel where the squad will be staying, fans lined up hoping for autographs and a chance to see their favourite players up close. The team, however, quickly moved from the bus into the hotel without stopping to interact, following a long journey from Asia. "Having seen them on TV and now having them close, I mean, literally metres away, is very exciting for me and the fact that they are here is incredible, because maybe they can learn more about our culture," said another fan, Diego Calderon. One fan, Kevin Kang, said he came to welcome his country's team and expressed confidence in their performance, while also looking ahead to the group-stage clash between South Korea and Mexico. The arrival of the Red Devils was also marked by a reception organised by local authorities and hotel staff, featuring mariachi music, traditional Jalisco folk dances and a display of South Korean flags. South Korea will play its group-stage matches in Guadalajara, facing the Czech Republic on June 11 and co-host Mexico on June 18, making the city a focal point for fans of the Asian side during the 2026 World Cup."
