Visayas, Mindanao will have fair weather; Luzon to experience occasional rains

MANILA, Philippines – While most of Luzon would experience occasional and scattered rains due to the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat,’ the Visayas and Mindanao areas would likely have fair weather within 24 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Sunday. Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 5 a.m. briefing that one more tropical cyclone may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this month after Tropical Depression Ester, which exited Saturday afternoon. “But we are not expecting any weather disturbance or specifically a low-pressure area in the coming days, especially at the time of the nationwide opening of school classes on June 8 (Monday),” Badrina said. In particular, the national weather bureau said Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur would likely have occasional rains due to habagat, and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and the rest of Ilocos Region, also due to the same weather system. The rest of the country would have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, it added.
