MANILA, Philippines—Sen. Erwin Tulfo appealed to fellow senators to unite amid chaos brought about by the power struggle in the chamber as he apologized to those whom he antagonized by his "aggressive" remarks. Tulfo on Sunday also asked forgiveness from the people. "Because of recent clashes, the session ended without advancing crucial legislation," he said. "I call upon my fellow Senators: let us end this division. Because of the seemingly endless arguments on politics, our mandate was paralyzed. And the Filipino people are the real losers here," he said. "Dahil sa labas ng Senado, ilan sa atin ay magbabarkada, magkumare o magkumpare naman. Kaya, trabaho na lang tayo (Because outside of the Senate, some of us are friends, or even close peers and companions So let us just get back to work," Tulfo said. "Let's craft laws, investigate irregularities without fear, and put every Filipino's welfare first. In these trying times for our nation, let's set aside personal interests," he added.
