Preparatory work for the second phase of Prague Metro Line D has already started, with full construction set to begin in the second half of June. The new metro line could begin operating in around six years. The opening timeline depends on the pace of preparations and the completion of procurement processes. The initial operational segment may run either between Pankrác and Nové Dvory or extend further to Písnice. The first section of Line D, connecting Pankrác and Olbrachtova, is already largely structurally complete. Concrete works are still being finalized inside the stations as part of finishing construction phases. Construction on this first segment began in 2022. Progress on the extension toward Písnice was delayed due to repeated complaints filed with the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition regarding procurement procedures. The main construction site will be located in Písnice near the Kunratická spojka, with work planned to proceed from the south. The preferred scenario is to open the entire section between Pankrác and Písnice at once. If that proves unfeasible, operations would initially start only between Pankrác and Nové Dvory.
