Seoul launches digital Korean studies network in Latin America

The Korea Foundation (KF), a government-designated public diplomacy agency, announced Monday the launch of a major virtual university network across five Latin American nations to convert regional enthusiasm for Korean pop culture into accredited academic research. Beginning in August, the newly formed the KF Global e-School consortium will connect six prominent universities in Chile, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador and Colombia through a shared digital curriculum. Under a formal agreement finalized with the Universidad Central de Chile, participating institutions — including the National University of Colombia and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru — will offer real-time, online Korean studies courses that count toward regular undergraduate degree credits.
