King Charles tipped for Ukraine State Visit as President Zelensky prepares invitation

Volodymyr Zelensky is preparing to invite King Charles to Ukraine for a State Visit later this year, it has emerged. The King and Mr Zelensky met for a private audience on Monday in Windsor Castle. It is understood that President Zelensky wishes to extend this honour following the monarch’s show of support after a row involving Donald Trump. GB News has contacted Buckingham Palace, the Foreign Office and the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment. TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say The Ukrainian President discussed the planned invitation during an interview in London on Monday, held after talks with Sir Keir Starmer and European leaders Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz. The televised row between Mr Trump, Mr Zelensky and JD Vance famously occurred at the White House on February 28, 2025. Mr Zelensky was told he was being “disrespectful”, while President Trump told the Ukrainian leader that he was “gambling with World War III”. Twenty-four hours after the televised fallout, Mr Zelensky travelled to the UK, where he met Sir Keir Starmer and King Charles, widely viewed as showing solidarity with the wartime leader. Mr Zelensky additionally used Monday's interview to stress the importance of maintaining strong ties between Ukraine and the UK amid the ongoing war with Russia. He told the Guardian: “British people helped us from the very beginning of this war, it’s true. It’s because of security, not only values… But it’s about security in Europe. It’s in the interests of the UK.” He added that he hoped some recent tensions in Europe could be resolved after Reform UK-led councils removed Ukrainian flags from civic buildings and replaced them with local flags and the Union flag. “I hope they will put it back”, Mr Zelensky told the newspaper. He said the former Chelsea owner met him in Kyiv with messages from Russia and offered to relay his response directly to Vladimir Putin. Mr Zelensky said he told Mr Abramovich he would be willing to meet “any time from tomorrow”, provided it was outside Russia or Belarus, and with international involvement. The Ukrainian leader also reiterated Ukraine’s stance on occupied territory: “And I said to him about Donbas, it was the key message, I said we will not leave and we will not go out from our territory. “No, we will not give you a victory (in) such (a) way, and you will not get it.” Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
