Dubai: Dusty weather will continue across the UAE today, as fresh winds stir up sand and dust, and temperatures climb to 47°C in some inland areas. According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the weather is expected to be fair in general today, with partly cloudy skies over eastern regions of the country. However, light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds may gain speeds of up to 40km/h. These periodic gusts may kick up dust and sand, especially in open and exposed areas, and cause reduced visibility on the roads. The NCM advises motorists to drive carefully in such situations, and to remain alert. Climbing temperatures Temperatures remain high across much of the country. While inland regions are forecast to see highs of between 42°C and 47°C, coastal and island areas can expect slightly reduced temperatures between 36°C and 42°C. For respite from the heat, head to mountain areas around the country, where temperatures will be slightly cooler, between 32°C and 38°C. Among major cities, Dubai is expected to reach 39°C, Abu Dhabi 42°C and Sharjah 41°C. The hottest area in the UAE today is Liwa, where the mercury will peak at 47°C, followed by Al Ain and Fujairah, which will see highs of 45°C and 44°C respectively. Calming seas Compared with the past few days, sea conditions will remain relatively calm today. The Arabian Gulf is expected to see slight to moderate conditions, according to the NCM. This means it will be tranquil for the most part, with wave heights reaching up to just four feet offshore. The Sea of Oman is forecast to remain slight, with a maximum wave height of three feet.
