"More than 30 hot air balloons took to the skies over Kazakhstan’s Almaty region during the Qazaqstan International Balloon Festival on Saturday. Footage shows participants inflating their balloons before dozens rose almost simultaneously above the steppe, framed by the mountains surrounding Almaty. "Incredible flight experience, this is my first time, such beauty. The location was chosen perfectly: panoramic views of stunning mountains, fresh air, and so many balloons," said Yulia Snegireva, a participant. "I am overwhelmed with emotions, and I am very grateful to the organisers, because this is a celebration that doesn’t happen every day," she added. The festival programme included mass balloon launches, passenger flights, a display of giant kites, food stalls, camping areas and entertainment for families. Organisers described the two-day event as an international celebration of aeronautics, music and outdoor culture, held at a horse-racing venue along the Upper Kaskelen road near Almaty. Aeronautical teams from Kazakhstan, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the festival."
