? Live: Peruvians vote in presidential runoff between Fujimori, Sanchez

"Live from Lima as polling stations open across Peru on Sunday, June 7, and voters cast their ballots in a presidential runoff between Keiko Fujimori and Roberto Sanchez. The vote follows the first round held on April 12, when no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote, triggering a second-round contest between the top two. Sanchez, a former minister and congressman backed by supporters of former president Pedro Castillo, is running for the left-wing Juntos por el Peru coalition on a platform of stronger social programmes and enhanced labour rights. Fujimori, the leader of the right-wing Fuerza Popular party and daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori, is seeking the presidency for a fourth time on a platform focused on security, economic stability and deregulation. More than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote in the election. A presidential term is five years, but political instability has seen eight presidents since 2016."
