Diokno Blvd. partially closed amid Senate hearing

MANILA, Philippines — A portion of Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City was closed to traffic on Monday as the Senate held another hearing on the testimonies of 18 alleged former Marines, with motorists advised to take alternate routes. The Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office told The Manila Times that the closure was “partial,” saying the affected portion covered Seaside Boulevard along Diokno Boulevard toward Buendia Avenue. Authorities said they were still waiting for an advisory on whether part of the road passing the Senate premises would also be closed. Motorists were advised to use Macapagal Boulevard in the meantime to avoid possible traffic buildup. Several supporters of former president Rodrigo Duterte were seen outside the Senate complex, although the crowd appeared smaller than the one seen on Friday, during the hearing led by ousted Senate president Alan Peter Cayetano. Traffic remained normal at press time.
