Actor Park Kyung-hye says $20,000 jaw surgery influenced food-cutting habit

Korean actor Park Kyung-hye said her habit of cutting food into small pieces stems from a history of extensive dental work. In a video posted Sunday on her YouTube channel, "Gyeonghye Bollae," Park performed home repairs and addressed why she went viral for cutting a hamburger. "I always cut up hamburgers," Park said. "My teeth were in bad condition, and my bite was misaligned, so I had to get a lot of dental work done." She said the prolonged treatment process disrupted her ability to chew. "When I was getting one side treated, I only chewed on the other side until I started having problems there too," she said. "That's when I got into the habit of cutting my food into small pieces. Even though my treatments are over, I still cut everything up." Park said during a 2017 appearance on MBC variety show "Radio Star" that she underwent double jaw surgery because of her tooth shape and a severely misaligned bite.
