CEBU CITY, Philippines —Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro on Wednesday, June 10, outlined the provincial government’s preparations for a possible major earthquake in Cebu after the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) in Central Visayas said the province has yet to experience its own “Big One.” The governor said the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that recently struck parts of Mindanao prompted provincial officials to revisit and strengthen their contingency measures. “I woke up thinking about it first thing in the morning.
