Family Tip: Pinocchio Garden Opens in Prague’s Malá Strana

A new outdoor installation dedicated to Pinocchio has opened in the garden of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague in Prague’s Malá Strana. The scenic route, created by Daniela and Silvana Nicoletta, leads visitors through scenes from the story of the wooden puppet, with characters including Geppetto, the Talking Cricket, the Blue Fairy, as well as the Cat, the Fox and the Whale. The garden exhibition, accessible from Vlašská Street, will remain open until September 12. It runs Tuesday to Saturday from 3 pm to 7 pm, with additional weekend opening hours. Entry is free. The initiative is part of broader celebrations marking the legacy of Carlo Collodi, whose novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio” has been translated and published worldwide. Alongside the garden installation, the institute is preparing a related exhibition titled “Pinocchio in the World,” hosted in its courtyard on Šporkova Street. From June 17 to September 17, the institute will also present a display of 79 digitised book covers of “The Adventures of Pinocchio,” published across 40 countries. The collection will be installed in the institute’s arcade, showing how the story has been visually reinterpreted over time.
