Knesset member Lieberman tours fortified underground medical command centre, gives blood as Israel moves to secure supply

"Israelis continued to donate blood on Monday at Magen David Adom's Marcus National Blood Services Centre in Ramla, as the country moved to secure supplies amid the escalating conflict with Iran. Footage from the centre shows volunteers donating blood. Paramedics can be seen scanning blood samples, labelling collection tubes and preparing donations for processing in advanced on-site laboratories. The facility is Israel’s main national blood collection and processing centre, functioning 24 hours a day. Among those donating blood was Knesset member, Avigdor Lieberman, who toured the underground complex and joined other volunteers. “In an emergency, anyone can come and donate blood," Lieberman said, adding that “Volunteering is the best thing one can witness in moments like these." Beyond maintaining the country’s blood supply, the underground facility also serves as Israel’s central emergency dispatch and command hub, designed to remain fully operational even during missile strikes or mass-casualty events. "This is a protected area, underground, so that operations can continue throughout whatever threat might be outside,” said Aryeh Myers, a paramedic at the facility. “When there are red alerts and incoming missiles, we make sure that Magen David Adom can continue its operations uninterrupted.” Myers explained that calls from across the country, from routine medical emergencies to mass-casualty incidents, are routed through the dispatch centre, where teams coordinate ambulances, emergency response vehicles and specialised units nationwide. “All of those calls come in here, and dispatch teams make sure help reaches wherever it’s needed across Israel," he said, noting that the centre's paramedics were first on the scene after a deadly missile strike on a shelter in Beit Shemesh. It comes as Israel and Iran trade missiles after a joint US-Israeli airstrike killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday."
