"Thousands of members of the Armed Forces and National Police were deployed across Peru as polling stations opened for the country's presidential runoff election on Sunday, June 7. The footage shows security personnel stationed outside the Libertador San Martín Private Educational Institution in Lima's San Borja district, where presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori is expected to cast her vote later in the day. More than 45,000 military personnel are taking part in a nationwide security operation coordinated with electoral authorities to safeguard polling stations, secure the transportation of electoral materials, and help ensure the smooth running of the vote. In Lima, authorities have also made nearly 1,000 surveillance cameras and drones available to reinforce monitoring efforts during the election day. The Armed Forces said their participation is being carried out with absolute neutrality and in accordance with Peru's constitutional and legal framework. More than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote in the runoff, where voting is mandatory for citizens between the ages of 18 and 69. Voters are choosing between Keiko Fujimori of the right-wing Fuerza Popular party and Roberto Sanchez, candidate of the left-wing Juntos por el Peru coalition."
