Downtown Toronto getting its first LEGO store in busy mall

A new, colourful retail store under construction in downtown Toronto is starting to take shape in a way that feels especially fitting for the tenant now setting up shop. LEGO is gearing up to open a new store inside CF Toronto Eaton Centre, marking what'll be the toy giant's first dedicated retail location in the downtown core. Photos of the vibrant storefront circulated on social media this week, to the delight of LEGO fanatics, who currently have just a few options for in-person shopping in Toronto. A spokesperson for Cadillac Fairview confirmed to blogTO that LEGO is moving into the space mostly recently occupied by menswear store Rodd & Gunn, located on the mall's third level in between Athleta and Harry Rosen, and across from Canada Goose. The plastic toy manufacturer already has existing retail stores at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Fairview Mall, Sherway Gardens, as well as a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Vaughan Mills, but this upcoming opening represents the company's first retail location in downtown Toronto. Although no official opening date has been announced yet, the signage suggests that the store is most likely in its final stages of preparation. The forthcoming development has also prompted online discussions about whether Toronto could one day see a larger flagship-style LEGO store, similar to those in other major cities, like the one at New York City's Rockefeller Center. Another post showing similar LEGO signage at Square One in Mississauga further added to speculation that greater expansion in the GTA could be underway. blogTO has reached out to LEGO Canada for more information regarding its Eaton Centre store and timeline for opening.
