A world-renowned chef is opening a new restaurant in Toronto just months after leaving his most recent, much-talked-about venture. When it was announced that internationally renowned chefs Christian Le Squer, Masaki Saito and Didier Leroy would be joining forces on an ambitious collaborative restaurant called LSL at Avenue and Lawrence, it immediately skyrocketed to the top of the list of the city's most-anticipated new eateries in 2024. A little over a year after opening, though, Leroy separated from the partnership in late 2025. Le Squer and Saito, still connected to the project but no longer working in the kitchen, rebranded the restaurant to Onze in early 2026. Leroy's next move, eagerly anticipated by the fans he's accumulated through a lifetime of international acclaim from being one of only about 500 Master Chefs in the world and local restaurant ventures like the now-shuttered Didier and LSL, remained to be seen. Come June 2026, we officially know where Chef Leroy is headed next: The Junction. Boasting just 20 seats, the restaurant will offer a five-course tasting menu that regularly changes with the seasons, reflecting seasonality's position as a bedrock of French cuisine. Priced at $148 per person, each diner will have the opportunity to make selections from the seasonal menu to build their meal, with the option to add wine pairings with each course. The French Kitchen is slated to open its doors on Thursday, June 25, but reservations are already available through OpenTable . The French Kitchen will be located at 3054 Dundas St. W.
