Venezuelan family's Christmas: From the American dream to poverty

MARACAY, Venezuela — This was not the Christmas that Mariela Gómez would have imagined a year ago. Or the one that thousands of other Venezuelan immigrants would have thought. Also affected by the northeast monsoon are Batanes and Babuyan Islands, where cloudy skies with rain will prevail within 24 hours, she added. Meanwhile, Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan would be affected by the easterlies—winds that pass the Pacific Ocean and carry humid, warm weather—bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
