Bangladesh, SKorea announce selections for Eurovision Asia after PH

FOLLOWING the Philippines’ announcement of the national selection of its entrant to the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia held in November, two countries also announced their selections. Bangladeshi broadcaster NTV and producer Bongo opened applications for singers from May 10 to June 10, where 12 finalists will be revealed by June 21. Candidates will undergo “intensive training” until the national final show, set for Aug. 23. Meanwhile, in South Korea, its TV channel, ENA, launched a search for its representative in the contest, inviting South Koreans ages 18 and above to submit an original song. The deadline for submission and application is on June 30, with those successful notified on July 13, with the national final show set for Sept. 4. It was also mentioned in the South Korean announcement that the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia will get to participate in the grand final of the main Eurovision Song Contest next year, which is set to be held in Bulgaria. Nepal and the Philippines, through ABS-CBN, had announced their bets for the upcoming contest. According to ABS-CBN, the country will select its entrant by August, which is just the same month as Bangladesh’s national selection, while Nepalese viewers will get to select their singer by Sept. 19. The first edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia is set to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov. 14, with 10 countries, including the Philippines, confirmed to participate.
