"The presidential candidate of Juntos por el Peru, Roberto Sanchez, began this Sunday the day of the second electoral round with a traditional Andean breakfast with his family in his hometown, Huaral, before traveling to the capital to cast his vote. Sanchez shared the breakfast with relatives at his parents' home, located in the Flor de Huaquillas neighborhood, before traveling to Lima to continue with his campaign activities and cast his vote. At the location, he invited the public to vote with conscience and hope. "I also invite you to join us on this beautiful day (...) to all Peruvians to commit to democracy, to the country, exercising a vote of conscience, a democratic vote," said the candidate. Sanchez was with his wife, Anali Valle, his two young daughters, and his parents. Before breakfast, he participated in a community mass at the San Juan Bautista parish in Huaral. Later, he set off for Lima to fulfill the rest of his electoral agenda and cast his vote in the San Borja district. Roberto Sanchez Palomino, 57, is a psychologist and was Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism during the government of former President Pedro Castillo. During his presidential campaign, he has proposed reforms aimed at strengthening the presence of the State in strategic sectors, expanding social programs, and promoting institutional changes. The presidential runoff is taking place in a context of strong political polarization, growing concern about citizen insecurity, and a prolonged institutional crisis that has led Peru to have eight presidents in the last decade. More than 27 million Peruvians, both in the national territory and abroad, were called to the polls to elect the president and vice presidents of the Republic for the period 2026-2031."
