Mall mayhem - Drone footage shows General Santos shopping centre wrecked by deadly quake

"Drone footage filmed on Monday shows widespread destruction in General Santos City on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, with a shopping centre and several other buildings badly damaged. The scenes followed a magnitude-7.8 earthquake off Sarangani province earlier in the day. At least 32 people were killed and more than 200 were injured across the affected region, according to authorities. Seven of the deaths were reported in General Santos. Tsunami waves of up to 1.4 metres were recorded along parts of the southern Philippine coast. The earthquake also prompted tsunami warnings or advisories in Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan. Search-and-rescue teams have been deployed to damaged and collapsed buildings in General Santos and surrounding areas. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said the government would not 'leave Mindanao behind'. The Philippines lies on the seismically active Pacific 'Ring of Fire' and is frequently affected by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions."
