MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday flew to Mindanao to check the areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck off the coast of Sarangani on Monday. Marcos, together with Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, led the inspection of earthquake-damaged areas in the city, including St. Elizabeth Hospital. He also checked the condition of patients and the status of medical facilities affected by the earthquake. The President also inspected school facilities damaged by the earthquake in General Santos City. He was accompanied by Dizon and Education Secretary Sonny Angara. General Santos City is classified as one of the hardest-hit areas by the powerful earthquake that has killed at least 45 people and injured hundreds.
