No widespread rainfall seen over PH as ‘habagat’ temporarily weakens

MANILA, Philippines – The state-run weather agency said on Wednesday that most parts of the country could expect less rain within the next 24 hours due to the temporary weakening of the southwest monsoon, locally ‘habagat.’ Habagat is affecting the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, said weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Dominguez also said during a 5 a.m. briefing that the national weather bureau has not monitored a low-pressure area forming inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility over the next two to three days. Meanwhile, Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be experiencing partly to mostly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
