The Kindle Scribe is in its AI era

Amazon has launched three new Kindle Scribe note-taking eReaders. The company released its first note-taking Kindle Scribe in 2022, more than five years after the ReMarkable made its debut. Amazon certainly seems to be attempting to make up for lost time in recent years. Following on from new models in 2024 and 2025, the company has launched three (or perhaps that should be two-and-a-bit) refreshed Kindle Scribe devices that offer a 40% boost in performance when writing and turning pages, as well as new AI tools. There’s the Kindle Scribe Colour, the Kindle Scribe, and a version of the regular Kindle Scribe without a front light. Amazon All three eReaders feature 11-inch glare-free paper-like e-ink displays housed in slimmer 5.4mm bodies. They also have built-in notebook facilities and come with a bundled Premium Pen stylus that doesn’t require charging. The new Kindle Scribe range promises “weeks of reading and writing on a single charge”, though Amazon doesn’t get any more specific than that. Amazon Kindle Scribe features and pricing The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft takes things further by offering a colour display, as well as 32GB of internal storage. Interestingly, it doesn’t have a system-wide Dark Mode like the regular Kindle Scribe models, though one is promised in an update later this year. The regular Kindle Scribe also gives you 32GB, though the alternative model drops that to 16GB, as well as taking away the front-lit display. Amazon Amazon states that the new range is ideal for reviewing full-sized documents, efficient note-taking and AI-powered search. On the latter front, AI-powered search and chat tools come preinstalled, while you can also generate summaries, refine your handwriting and convert it to text. All three new Scribe devices are available to buy from the online retail giant right now. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft costs £569.99 / $679.99 , while the regular Kindle Scribe is £449.99 / $499.99 , and the Kindle Scribe Without Front Light (not exactly the catchiest name) costs £389.99 / $429.99 .
