The Wear OS 7 update could be coming to a Pixel Watch near you very soon indeed. Or is it already out? As Droid-Life reports , US mobile network operator Verizon claims that Google released the big new update on 9 June. In other words, yesterday at the time of writing, despite no confirmation from Google or any other reports that it’s arrived on devices. While that release day appears wide of the mark, it’s the best evidence we have so far that Wear OS 7 is imminent. At its unveiling last month (where it was the unsung star of Google I/O), Google vaguely described a “later this year” release window. Chris Martin / Foundry A telling slip Over on the Verizon website , it has listed change logs relating to a so-called “System Update 20” for the Pixel Watch 2 , Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4 . Not much is divulged concerning the content of this update, but it does confirm that we’re talking about “The latest Wear OS 7 update”. We also get confirmation that “The most up to date Android Security Patch” will be included, alongside “Performance and stability improvements”. Google What to expect from Wear OS 7 Wear OS 7 is about far more than that, of course. As we’ve already noted, Google itself has run through some of the key improvements. These include a more flexible and dynamic widget system, Android 16-style Live Updates, a standardised workout experience for third-party fitness apps, improved media playback controls, and a significant battery life boost. Google is expected to launch the new Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 smartphone range, which will probably arrive sometime in August. Last week, four variants of the Google Pixel Watch 5 appeared on India’s BIS certification platform , indicating Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the 41mm and 45mm size options, much like its predecessor .
