Hand in hand - Kim, Xi kick off two-day state visit with high-stakes talks in Pyongyang

"Chinese President Xi Jinping and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un held talks in Pyongyang on Monday, marking Xi's first visit to DPRK in nearly seven years and coinciding with the 65th anniversary of their 1961 Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Treaty. Footage captured at the Kumsusan State Guesthouse shows President Xi and his counterpart posing for an official photograph before convening bilateral talks with their respective delegations. The Pyongyang summit follows a series of high-level meetings in Beijing, where Xi Jinping hosted back-to-back meetings with US President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin in May. On Xi’s arrival, DPRK state media called for a unified opposition to “hegemonism and power politics” to mark the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance."
