"Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday visited the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers’ Party of Korea in Pyongyang, where he and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un planted a fir tree symbolising the countries' friendship. Images released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) show Xi received by Kim at the venue and guided on a tour of the facility. The two leaders reportedly observed a lecture, held talks while walking through the grounds, and jointly planted and watered the symbolic tree. Xi and Kim also attended the ceremony where Cai Qi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, and Kim Jae-ryong, Secretary of the WPK Central Committee, jointly unveiled a monument commemorating the visit. The monument bears the inscription 'May the China–DPRK Friendship Last Forever' in both Chinese and Korean, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Xi concluded his first visit to the DPRK since 2019 on Tuesday, a trip that comes as both nations approach the 65th anniversary of their Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance." The two leaders pledged to expand cooperation across politics, trade and culture, while reaffirming their socialist ties and opposition to external pressure. The Pyongyang summit follows a series of high-level meetings in Beijing, where Xi Jinping hosted back-to-back meetings with US President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin in May. Ahead of Xi's arrival, DPRK state media called for united opposition to 'hegemonism and power politics'. "
