"Activists from pro-Palestinian and anti-war groups rallied outside Downing Street on Tuesday, calling for an end to Israel's military operations in Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza, and urging US President Donald Trump to halt weapons supplies to Tel Aviv. Footage shows protesters gathered with flags from the affected regions, holding anti-war placards and listening to speeches. One protester carried a sign depicting a dog in the American flag with its tail as the Israeli flag and Trump's name beneath it, bearing the inscription 'Now the tail wags the dog'. "It would be very easy for Trump to simply turn off the weapon supply. Previous US presidents, at various times, have done that. He hasn’t. He could, if he wanted to," commented former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. "The simple thing he needs to do is to say, ‘I'm not selling you any more weapons.’ But that's the one thing he's quite unlikely to do <...> Israel remains central to the West's Imperial project, to the US's geopolitical ambitions in the Middle East," noted Chris Nineham from Stop the War coalition. Activists also denounced Israel's continuous strikes on the region, accusing Tel Aviv of 'breaking the ceasefire in all directions'. "They're attacking Gaza again, in a murderous way, and they are locked into the war against Iran as well," added Nineham. "Israel has continued for months now to attack Lebanon, including, you know, displacing over a million people from their homes," expressed Peter Leary from Palestine Solidarity Campaign. The protest comes amid fresh escalations between Israel and Iran, marking the most serious breach of the ongoing ceasefire since it came into effect in April. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he would call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urge him "not to respond to Iranian missile attacks." "I don't want this to derail the agreement. Both sides have attacked, and I don't want to see another attack," Trump added. Both sides agreed to halt attacks on Monday, a day later, Trump insisted he could get a deal with Iran in 'two or three days' - while Netanyahu warned that his fight with Hezbollah and Iran 'has not ended'. The escalation follows months of conflict triggered by joint US-Israeli military operations against Iran on February 28."
