"Footage released by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday shows missiles being launched towards what the group said were US targets in the region following overnight American strikes in southern Iran. The exact date and location of the footage could not be independently verified. Footage shows the missiles decorated with images of late IRGC commanders Hossein Salami, Amir Ali Hajizadeh and Mohammad Bagheri with text reading ‘A tribute to the leaders’. The IRGC said it had carried out strikes against "several US air and naval bases in the region" in response to what it described as American aggression in southern Iran. In a statement, the group warned that if further attacks take place, "more severe and widespread attacks" would follow. The IRGC also claimed it had struck 21 targets linked to US military facilities in the region and shot down an MQ-9 drone over Jam County. According to the statement, long-range solid-fuel missiles were used to target sites, including what it described as F-35 fighter-jet hangars and a command-and-control centre at Al-Azraq in Jordan. The United States has confirmed carrying out overnight strikes against Iranian air defence systems, ground-control stations and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz. US forces described the operation as an act of self-defence following the reported downing of a US Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz and what Washington said were recent attacks on US personnel and commercial shipping in the region. The footage emerges amid reports of heightened security measures by regional authorities. Bahraini authorities advised residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location after warning sirens sounded before dawn on Wednesday. Kuwait's military said air defence systems were intercepting what it described as hostile aerial targets, while Jordan's armed forces announced the interception of five missiles launched towards the Azraq region in Zarqa Governorate. The latest escalation follows comments by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday regarding the reported AH-64 Apache helicopter crash near the Strait of Hormuz. "We are going to issue a report tomorrow. But the pilots are fine," Trump told reporters. Iran and Israel exchanged fresh strikes on Sunday in the first reported confrontation since a ceasefire came into effect in April. Both sides later agreed to halt attacks on Monday."
