'They weren't just burning a house but an entire family!' - West Bank villagers as reported Israeli settlers attack leaves nine injured, destroys property

"Several Palestinians sustained injuries as the village of Deir al-Hatab, east of Nablus in the West Bank, was reportedly attacked by Israeli settlers on Sunday evening. Footage filmed on Monday shows charred cars standing near a house with soot stains on the walls and burnt-out rooms. Omar Abdullah, an affected resident, said he and his family were trapped inside their home after settlers destroyed his car and set the house on fire, forcing them to retreat to the upper floor. "We were trapped for around ten minutes, during which time we experienced indescribable terror and fear. This is the first time our town has been attacked by settlers. No one expected that Deir al-Hatab would be targeted," he said.  Another local, Burhan Omar, recalled he failed to confront the numerous attackers and escaped to the roof with his family.  "The fire spread through the house, and I was moving from one corner to another with my children to avoid the rising smoke. At the same time, settlers surrounding the house were pelting me with stones. I defended myself by throwing stones too, because I realised that they weren't just burning a house - they were burning an entire family," he shared. The eyewitness also claimed that Israeli forces prevented a fire engine from entering the village.  According to local media reports, nine people were injured in the attack, including one person shot in the foot, six beaten, one suffered from smoke inhalation, and another who sustained a broken thigh after falling from a height.  The Israeli military had not commented on the incident at the time of publication.  In recent months, settler attacks in the West Bank have increased. Isaac Herzog and military chief Eyal Zamir have previously condemned such incidents, warning they 'cross red lines'.  Tensions have remained high in the West Bank since October 7. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 759 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers, while official Israeli figures report that more than 26 Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians in the territory over the same period."
