"The Colombian Military Forces deployed several aircraft to rescue victims of the crash of a Hercules C-130 aircraft of the Colombian Air Force (FAC), which crashed on Monday, minutes after taking off from Puerto Leguizamo airport, Putumayo, in the south of the country. Footage shows at least one dead passenger being evacuated by emergency responders, while dozens more receive treatment onboard a military aircraft. According to authorities, several aircraft equipped with evacuation stretchers and medicines were dispatched to the crash site, where personnel treated the injured and transferred several of them to nearby hospitals. According to the Colombian Aerospace Force, a King 350 aircraft landed at the Military Air Transport Command (CATAM) in Bogota with three injured people, who were transferred to the Military Hospital. Likewise, a C-130 Hercules aircraft carried out the mass transfer of 48 injured people on the route from Puerto Leguizamo to Bogota. At least 34 people are confirmed dead, according to the regional governor, while 77 people were rescued. The Ministry of Defence expressed its solidarity with the families of those affected, stressing that 'all support protocols have been activated.' The C-130 Hercules plane, which was carrying out a troop and cargo transport mission, was transporting 125 people, 114 passengers, mainly members of the Armed Forces, as well as 11 crew members.
