Kim designates ROK 'most hostile nation', urges further nuclear development at Pyongyang's 15th Supreme People's Assembly *STILLS*

"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un declared the neighbouring Republic of Korea (ROK) the ‘most hostile nation’ during the First Session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) in Pyongyang on Monday. Kim warned of the ‘merciless consequences’ if Seoul attempts any provocation against Pyongyang, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Stills released by KCNA show Kim greeting officials during the SPA session, before attending an art performance held afterwards. During the session, the DPRK leader urged the further advance of the country’s ‘nuclear shield’, stressing its vital importance for national security. “Today's reality clearly demonstrates the legitimacy of our nation’s strategic choice and decision to reject the enemies’ sweet talk and permanently secure our nuclear possession,” Kim remarked, as cited by the state media. The statement took place on the second and final day of the first session of the newly elected SPA, the country's legislature.  The revision of the country’s constitution was also discussed during the session. The draft law, which, among other things, includes the renaming of the ‘Socialist Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea’ as the ‘Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea’, was fully approved. During Sunday’s  PA session, Kim was re-elected president of the State Affairs Commission. It marks his third consecutive term, with the State Affairs Commission, established in 2016, serving as the DPRK's top policy guidance group."
