"Israel said it struck the Al-Dalafa Bridge, a key crossing over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, as part of operations targeting Hezbollah supply routes. Footage released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday shows part of the bridge collapsing into the river following an overnight strike. “Overnight, the IDF struck another main crossing used by Hezbollah terrorists to manoeuvre from north to south of the Litani River in Lebanon,” the military said in a statement. “Hezbollah used this crossing for transferring weapons, rockets, and launchers with the aim of executing terror attacks against the State of Israel,” it added. The strike is part of a wider campaign targeting crossings in southern Lebanon, including the Qasmiyeh Bridge near Tyre, with residents previously warned to avoid the area. Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz said the objective is to prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing a presence south of the Litani River. It comes after a joint US-Israeli operation against Iranian targets started on February 28 amid diplomatic talks aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear and missile programmes. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US military positions in the region, with explosions reported across Gulf countries. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead on the first day, and his son Mojtaba Khamenei was later selected as successor. US President Donald Trump warned that any new leader would 'not stay for long' if elected without US consent. The fighting has drawn in Lebanon's Hezbollah and led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which handles 20 per cent of global oil traffic. Oil prices have surged above one hundred dollars per barrel, sparking protests worldwide and straining global markets. The Israeli military has since increased troop deployments along the border and launched 'targeted' raids against Hezbollah infrastructure, including tunnels and weapons caches. More than one million people have reportedly been displaced since early March, with evacuation orders pushing residents further north beyond the Zahrani River."
