Battlefield Beirut - Southern suburbs flattened after Israel launches strikes on Hezbollah stronghold

"Widespread destruction was seen in Beirut's southern suburbs on Tuesday following sustained Israeli airstrikes since early March. Footage shows entire buildings reduced to rubble, alongside others severely damaged or partially destroyed across the area. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the strikes are targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in the southern suburbs, a known stronghold of the group. Residents, however, rejected that characterisation, describing the bombardment as collective punishment. The strikes followed evacuation orders issued for several neighbourhoods in the area. Lebanese authorities said on Monday that Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,039 people and injured 2,876 since the conflict began on March 2, with more than one million residents displaced. Analysts estimate the war is costing Lebanon around $100 million per day. The escalation comes after Hezbollah entered the conflict in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei."
