Samsung chief meets China state planner in Beijing during forum visit

BEIJING — Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong met with China's top economic planning official Tuesday in Beijing on the occasion of his participation in the China Development Forum, Chinese officials said. According to China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), NDRC Chairman Zheng Shanjie met Lee and exchanged views on China's macroeconomic conditions, efforts to expand opening-up policies and Samsung's business in China, among others. According to the NDRC, Zheng welcomed Samsung to expand investment and cooperation in China, while pledging continued improvements in the business environment and equal treatment for foreign-invested companies. He also emphasized that despite growing global uncertainties, China's economy remains fundamentally stable with strong resilience and long-term growth potential. Lee expressed appreciation for China's support for Samsung's operations, saying the country remains a key part of Samsung's global strategy and that the company hopes to deepen cooperation by tapping into opportunities from China's high-quality economic developme
