Fly me to the moon! – Hyperrealistic replica created with NASA images draws crowds to light up Mexico City

"A large moon replica was installed in Mexico City as part of the International Festival of Lights Mexico, through the exhibition 'Only the Light Spring' The luminous sphere measures seven meters in diameter and was created by British artist Luke Jerram, who worked with detailed images of the lunar surface from NASA to create this piece. On Tuesday, during the opening day, dozens of tourists came to the site to take photographs and closely appreciate the craters of the moon, on Paseo de la Reforma, one of the busiest avenues in the capital. "Light is also a profound message in our time. At an international level, we are living in dark times where these forces reemerge with ghosts of hatred, violence or war. In times of darkness it has to shine more strongly, more strongly than ever this great city," mentioned Head of Government Clara Brugada during the inauguration. "It is mapped with real images taken by NASA. And also observing the part that we do not see of the moon. Every detail, every real crater of the moon is here. Every square centimeter of this represents five square kilometers of the real moon," said Omar Gomez, participating artist of the exhibition 'Only the Light Spring'. The moon replica, along with other works that are part of this International Festival of Lights, has been installed since last Friday March 20 until next Tuesday the 29th, offering a unique spectacle that extends from the Angel of Independence to the Chapultepec Forest."
