"Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, issued a warning to European leaders, claiming Iran’s missile capabilities now pose a direct threat to their cities. Speaking at the UN, Danon accused Tehran of misleading the international community about the true range of its ballistic missile arsenal. “Missiles can reach Paris, London, Athens, Copenhagen, and Riga… This is not speculation. These are facts. This is a real threat,” he said, referring to a recent launch allegedly reaching nearly 4,000 kilometres. Danon cited earlier remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who had claimed Iran deliberately limited its missile range to under 2,000 kilometres. “That was not a misstatement. It was a blatant lie,” Danon said, arguing that the latest launches demonstrate capabilities far beyond what Tehran had publicly acknowledged. He warned that further technological advances could extend missile ranges even further, potentially putting the United States within reach. “If it has doubled once, it can double again… That would make it capable of striking the heart of the United States,” he added. Danon framed the issue as a global security challenge rather than a regional conflict, urging European governments to take immediate action. “Iran is not a regional problem. It is not our problem. It is a global one… So I must ask my European colleagues today — where are you? What are you doing about it?” he said. Danon added that military action will continue, prior to future diplomatic efforts. “At the end of any operation, you have to go to diplomacy… but we will make sure that Iran will not have nuclear capability and will not have ballistic missile capabilities,” he stated. The escalation follows joint military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, carried out during ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at limiting Tehran’s nuclear and missile programmes. Tehran has since carried out retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli territory and US military assets across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the killing of its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, after which his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, assumed leadership."
