'We will continue to hunt them' - IDF claims Iranian attacks rapidly decreasing, designates Litani line as northern security border

"IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin announced on Tuesday that the frequency of Iranian strikes have dropped 'very quickly' as the joint US-Israeli operations against Tehran continue for a fourth week. "The amount of launches decreased very quickly. The average is more or less about ten missiles a day. The regime tries to concentrate effort once every few days and fire more broadly, mainly towards population centres," remarked Defrin in a daily press briefing. "We are prepared for this and continue to hunt and eliminate the soldiers and commanders of the missile launch array [...] It can now be said that yesterday we eliminated the cell that was responsible for the firing on Arad on Saturday night. We will continue to hunt them," he continued. Iran's missile strikes on Dimona and Arad on Saturday left nearly 200 people injured, including 11 in serious condition. Turning to operations in Lebanon, the spokesperson noted that Israeli army has designated the Litani line as the 'northern security border,' stressing that troops were granted 'freedom of action' to continue eliminating Hezbollah targets amid reports of contacts between the US and Iran. "We will continue to strike in Lebanon, as I said before. We have clear objectives, we have a clear plan," he emphasised. "We will continue with it, deepen our hold in southern Lebanon, deepen the defence and the manoeuvring in southern Lebanon, and strike throughout Lebanon, and we will continue to strike them until we bring about the disarmament of Hezbollah." On Monday, President Donald Trump claimed that US and Iranian officials have discussed a possible end to hostilities. Tehran said that 'no negotiations' have taken place with Washington and accused Trump of making the claim in an attempt to manipulate the market and bring energy prices down. Tensions escalated in the Middle East after the US and Israel launched a joint operation against Iranian targets on February 28 amid diplomatic talks aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear and missile programmes. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US military positions in the region, with explosions reported across Gulf countries. Iran confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in strikes on the first day of the conflict. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has since assumed leadership of the country."
