4 Chinese nabbed over alleged love scam, detaining compatriot

MANILA, Philippines — Four Chinese nationals were arrested for allegedly detaining one of their compatriots and reportedly running a love scam hub at a condominium in Pasay City, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Wednesday. In an interview at Camp Crame, CIDG National Capital Region (NCR) Chief Col. John Guiagui told reporters that the detained individual’s friend first reported the incident on March 2 and returned to police on March 19, prompting the operation. “We were told that he needed to be rescued because there is a threat that he would be killed,” Guiagui explained.
