With local elections done and dusted, France is pivoting towards electing a president to replace Emmanuel Macron in 2027. The local elections have revealed that the political landscape is fragmented, and that party alliances have reshaped. On the left, the socialist party is in turmoil over an alliance with the radical left party France Unbowed. On the right, the question is whether to move toward the centre of further shift right, towards the far-right party National Rally. FRANCE 24's Clovis Casali looks at where parties stand a year from the election.
