"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said Israel is expanding the 'buffer zone' into southern Lebanon and vowed to 'dismantle' Hezbollah, speaking on Wednesday. "Now, dismantling Hezbollah is our focus. This is related to the overall campaign with Iran, which is still ongoing, contrary to what has been reported in the media," he said, adding, "It is our intention to do everything to fundamentally change the situation in Lebanon." He said that Israeli forces had eliminated the threat of a ground invasion from Hezbollah into its northern border, including Galilee, and created a 'true security zone'. "We are expanding this security zone to push back the threat from our residents and territories. We are simply creating a larger buffer zone," he added. He said that he had instructed his government not to implement any budgetary cuts for its northern region to prevent evacuations of Israelis amid cross-border attacks from Lebanon. "I ask you to do everything possible to prevent the abandonment of settlements," he said. "We are breaking boundaries in every sense of the word," Netanyahu claimed, adding, "Israel is stronger than ever and Iran is weaker than ever." Israel has pounded Lebanon with airstrikes and launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, in response to the killing of the Iranian Supreme Leader in a US-Israeli airstrike. According to the UN, over a million people in Lebanon have been displaced since Israel's military operation in the country. As per data shared by Lebanon’s Health Ministry, 1,094 people have been killed and 3,119 wounded from March 2–25, 2026. "
